Senior Thesis Exhibition

This collection of work is a combination of three wood paneling collage paintings and three articles of clothing. After completing the first three paintings, I saw the possibility of each of them as clothing pieces. While making these works, I was heavily influenced by Monet, Kehinde Wiley, and Gustav Klimt. I also pulled influence from Muslim tile art and textile design, trips throughout the Middle East and Europe, and a lifelong fascination with fashion and jewelry design.

I like to mix floral visuals with the use of bright varieties of colors to give an otherworld sense to these design paintings. The loose oil painting techniques juxtaposed against thin pen drawings are two mediums that are important elements to these pieces, helping to build both the textural and layered element in the paintings. Using my background in fashion, I created the paintings in cloth form making them a movable, functional fashion piece.
